The CLC Design Team assists libraries and schools in the furnishing of their spaces. Whether our team is introduced to the project by the library or in collaboration with the library’s architecture firm, CLC’s designers work with the library from the design phase through installation. We have a deep understanding of how libraries function and help develop an aesthetic that is unique for each community. At CLC we guide our customers toward high-quality products and high-performance fabrics, finishes, and materials that meet design intent and endure beautifully over time. Our Process
PROGRAMMING > Every project starts with a conversation. We ask questions to gain a clear understanding of the project requirements and overall vision. In the beginning, we discuss functionality, requirements, budget, timeline, and overall design aesthetic. This initial dialogue allows us to define the scope and establish clear parameters that guide us through the project from concept to completion.
SCHEMATIC DESIGN > Once a clear direction is established, multiple furniture and shelving plans are developed in accordance with ADA compliance. The preliminary design packet consists of AutoCAD plans and tailored product image presentations. The goal is to present clients with two to three different layout options for their space.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT > At this stage the layouts are refined into a single, cohesive plan, and we begin to specify shelving, furniture, materials and finishes. Our designers work with our quoting team to price the preferred components, using state and/or cooperative purchasing contracts where applicable. A final design presentation is prepared to include detailed product specifications, final floor plans, 3D renderings, and digital color/finish boards.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT > Our design team remains engaged through the installation of the project. Once orders are placed, we review and approve shop drawings, create detailed installation drawings, and address any manufacturer questions that arise during production. CLC designers coordinate closely with the trades on-site, including contractors and electricians, to ensure that our products integrate properly with the building elements. Once complete, a final installation review is executed to ensure the project is completed as planned, and to the satisfaction of the client.
